In 1917, 180 Northwest Iowans each pledged $100 to form the Clay County Fair Association, laying the foundation for what would become “The World’s Greatest County Fair.” Today, that legacy lives on through more than 800 active lifetime members who continue to support the Fair and its 260-acre Fair & Events Center — all independently owned and maintained by the Association.

The Association is a nonprofit 501(c)5 organization that not only produces the Clay County Fair each September — Iowa’s second-largest tourism event — but also oversees year-round operations of the Events Center and Speedway, which together host over 200 events annually.

For a one-time $100 lifetime membership, you’ll receive an invitation to the Association's annual meeting each February and gain voting privileges to select the next Board of Directors. Membership is open to anyone who wants to help preserve a historic tradition while shaping its future.
