2nd Annual Art of the Que to include Live Music, Inflatables, and More!

Spencer, Iowa—The Clay County Fair & Event Center, Art of the Que Planning Committee, and Spencer Radio Group will host the 2nd Annual Art of the Que on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, 2024, at the Clay County Fairgrounds. This event will be a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned BBQ Contest and will include live entertainment, inflatables, vendors, and more. Art of the Que is free to attend and open to the public.

With a full slate of activities planned, there is something for everyone. On Friday, June 27, gates will open at 5:00 PM. Fill your evening by enjoying food trucks and taking a walk through the Smoky Mountain Central Railroad. Friday night from 5:00 PM -6:45 PM attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the People’s Choice Wings Contest. Tickets to taste test the wings are $5 per sheet, one sheet will allow you to try five wings from different BBQ Teams. Tickets can be purchased upon arrival at the event. Once you have tried your favorites don’t forget to cast your vote and see how your favorite stacks up against the rest. Finish the night by enjoying live music by Scott Kirkart, and Scott Larson.

The event will move into day two on Saturday, June 28. Gates open at 10:00 AM with art & commercial vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, inflatables, and more. There will also be a classic car show by Old Iron Car Company on Saturday. Don’t forget to walk around and check out the BBQ and watch teams race against the clock to turn in perfect cuts of chicken, ribs, Boston butt and brisket.

“While the meat from the BBQ cook teams is not available to the general public to purchase or try we are excited to have a great variety of food trucks and food vendors to help curve those BBQ and other cravings”, said Stacey Meyer, Event Services Director with the Clay County Fair & Events Center. “We are excited to have Clay County Fair Concessions, Chad Bressman’s Lemonade Stand, Spencer Hy-Noon Kiwanis Cookie Bucket, Spencer Jaycees, Spencer Women of Today, and Spencer YMCA as food vendors for our event.
