1st annual Art of the Que to include live music, inflatables, and more!
Spencer, Iowa —Arts on Grand, the Clay County Fair & Events Center and the Spencer Radio Group will host the 1st Annual Art of the Que BBQ Contest and Art Festival at the Clay County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8.
Art of the Que is free to attend and is open to the public.
With a full slate of activities planned there is something for everyone. On Friday July 7, gates will open at 2:00 PM. Fill your afternoon by enjoying the art vendors and walk through the Smoky Mountain Central Railroad. Friday night from 5:00 PM -6:45 PM attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the People’s Choice Wings Contest. Tickets to taste test the wings are $5 per sheet, one sheet will allow you to try five wings from different BBQ Teams. Tickets can be purchased upon arrival at the event. Once you have tried your favorites don’t forget to cast your vote and see how your favorite stacks up against the rest. Finish the night by enjoying live music by Scott Kirkart, Weary Ramblers, and the Jeremy Dewall Band.
The event will move into day two on Saturday, July 8. Gates open at 11:00 AM with art & commerical vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, inflatables, face painting and more. There will also be a classic car show by Old Iron Car Company and the Spencer Jaycees will be hosting a Bags Tournament Saturday afternoon. Don’t forget to walk around and check out the BBQ and watch them race against the clock to turn in perfect cuts of chicken, ribs, Boston butt and brisket.
“While the meat from the BBQ cook teams is not available to the general public to purchase or try we are excited to have a great variety of food trucks and food vendors to help curve those BBQ and other cravings”, said Alicia Kopriva, Event Services Director with the Clay County Fair & Events Center. “We are excited to have Bean Counter Concessions, Double M Concessions, Spencer Jaycees, Spencer Hy-Noon Kiwanis Cookie Bucket and the Spencer YMCA Fair Ice Cream Bars all as food vendors for our event.”
End the evening by enjoying the fantastic line up of night two bands; Jesse Wilson, Stampeding River Caterpillars and Rock n Roll Damnation.
