Family Fest to include new Ag Zone, Safety City, and more!

Spencer, Iowa — The Clay County Fair & Events Center and Positively Spencer Youth will host the 12th Annual Family Fest at the Clay County Regional Events Center on Saturday, March 4th from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Family Fest is free to attend and is open to the public.

Families can enjoy activities for all ages and learn what local businesses, groups and organizations can do for families. New this year is the Family Fest Ag Zone sponsored by Famers Savings Bank. This area will have educational hands-on activities for attendees to learn about ag safety.

“With the past few weeks of winter weather, I know many families are ready to get out of the house,” said Fair & Events Center CEO Jeremy Parsons. “Family Fest is a perfect event to have some fun, learn some new things, and have a great day of family bonding.”

Other features include Spencer Municipal Utilities Safety City, which will allow families to interact with local law enforcement, firefighters and EMT staff; Spencer Hospital’s “glow germ” hand washing activity; and the H.E.A.T. Tactical Vehicle.

ISU Extension and Outreach Clay County returns with exciting activities including bunny hopping and a petting zoo. The different 4-H clubs will be available to tell attendees about 4-H and answer any questions about joining.

STEM activities provided by Iowa Lakes Community College offers an exciting and fun way for kids to have a chance to learn about science, technology, engineering and math. There will also be a KidZone sponsored by Spencer Family YMCA that will have a number of fun activities in their area, including a bounce house.

The Clay County Fair & Events Center and Positively Spencer Youth would like to thank the sponsors who help make this event a success: City of Spencer, Farmers Savings Bank, Spencer Municipal Utilities, Farmers Trust and Savings Bank, Spencer Hospital, State Farm – Craig Neiderheister, Spencer Jaycees, Vander Haags, Spencer Chamber of Commerce, Spencer Kiwanis after 5, and the Spencer Rotary Club.
