2017 Dirt Events Announced

Dirt Events

Six thundering dirt events, including a sprint car-only show will fill the U.S. Cellular Grandstand during the nine days of the 2017 Clay County Fair, Sept. 9-17.

“Dirt racing has been a great part of the Fair’s 100-year history, and this year will be no exception,” said Fair Manager Jeremy Parsons. “Sprint Car fans will be especially pleased with the addition of 360 and non-wing classes this year.”

A long-standing Fair tradition, Chuckwagon Races will kick off dirt events Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10 at noon on both days. Adult general admission tickets are $15 and child general admission (age 12 and under) tickets are $10.

The Antique Tractor Pull will begin 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and will be free to all fairgoers. The historical pieces of machinery will be a highlight at this year’s Centennial.

The Arnold Motor Supply IMCA Blue Ribbon Showdown’s hot laps will start at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Adult general admission tickets are $12, child general admission (age 12 and under) tickets are $6 and pit passes are $25. This will be the final night for IMCA class racing for the 2017 season at the Clay County Fair Speedway. IMCA classes include Hobby Stocks, Sports Mods, Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sports Compacts.

The Outlaw Elite National Truck and Tractor Pull will show its power at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. Adult general admission tickets are $20 and child general admission (age 12 and under) tickets are $10. Again this year, one ticket is good for the single session, which features 11 classes with an intermission. The Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulling Association, formed in 1982, is the top-notch pulling association in the Midwest.

Sprint cars will thunder through the Fair on Friday, September 15 with the CCF Sprint Car Triple Header, featuring 410, 360 and non-wing sprint cars. Hot laps will start at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $25, and children (age 12 and under) are $10. The IRA was founded in the mid 1960's and competed in their early years as winged super modifieds, later converting to sprint cars and a regional touring schedule.

The Truck Pull Nationals with the Northwest IA Pullers Garden Tractor & Mini-Rod Pull will begin 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16. Adult general admission tickets are $12 and child general admission (age 12 and under) tickets are $6.
