Former Gaither Vocal Band Member Mark Lowry to appear at 2008 Clay County Fair

SPENCER, IOWA- Mark Lowry, a fan favorite not only for singing but also for his comedy, will be performing on Sunday, September 7th in the Events Center Grand Ballroom during the 2008 Clay County Fair.

Houston, Texas native, Lowry spent his early years performing at churches where he worked comedy routines in between songs. There his comedy act was born and became a popular part of the singer’s performance.

Lowry’s career flourished when he became a member of The Gaither Vocal Band. He was offered the baritone position and remained with the group for 13 years. Lowry’s onstage antics with Bill Gaither became a crowd favorite as the group performed for audiences across the country. He also took his performing act solo, doing several dozen concerts every year.

Currently, Lowry spends his time traveling and performing his music and comedy. He continues to record music and comedy albums as well as videos. Four of his six recorded videos have achieved ‘Gold’ certification and two ‘Platinum’. Mark Lowry on Broadway debuted at number one on the Billboard music video chart and was there for five weeks.

Lowry will come to share his songs and humor at the 2008 Clay County Fair on Sunday, September 7. He will be performing two shows at 2:30 and 6 p.m. in the Events Center Grand Ballroom. Tickets for the shows will be $20 premium reserved seats and $15 reserved seats.

The 2008 Clay County Fair will run Saturday, September 6 through Sunday, September 14. Jason Aldean and special guest Eric Church have been announced to perform Sunday, September 7, Tonic Sol-fa Monday, September 8, Josh Turner and Luke Bryan Friday, September 12, Corbin Bleu and Drew Seeley on Saturday, September 13 and The Beach Boys on Sunday, September 14. The final performers will be announced in the weeks to come. The first day for postmarks on mail-orders for Grandstand and Events Center tickets will be June 23. Orders will be taken by phone beginning July 14. July 21 is the first day the box office will be open on the fairgrounds.
