Arm Wrestling competition sure to challenge Clay County Fair goers
SPENCER, IOWA- ARMWRESTLING USA/Iowa State Championship, is set to come to the 2008 Clay County Fair on Saturday, September 13. The contest will take place in the KICD Courtyard with registration beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The competition will be open to both men and women, giving contestants a chance to claim the title of Arm Wrestling Champion. Events will feature standardized weight classes, streamlined equipment, and national rankings for all competitors who win a match. The competition will be free to all participants and challenge strength, athletic ability and personal desire to prevail.
The event is a series of Grand Prix competitions that are held by ARMWRESTLING USA all over the United States. Fairgoers are the participants in this unique competition that provides the opportunity for all sports lovers to become a weekend athlete.
All competitors that reach the quarter finals of regional events in their weight classes will earn special seedings into the Grand Finale at the Arizona Sate Fair in October. There will be competition in five men’s divisions and two women’s divisions.
Men’s classes will include a featherweight division (under 144), lightweight division (145-169), middleweight division (170-193), light heavyweight division (194-219), and heavyweight (220 & above). Women’s classes will consist of lightweight division (144 & under) and open division (above 145).
There will also be a special children’s event featuring age and weight adjustments for fun prizes.
Contestants can register from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday September 13. Special clinics will begin at 2 p.m., feed-in for the competition will start after the clinics and the Grand Finale will be at 5 p.m. All activities related to the event will be held in the KICD Courtyard.
