Cheap Trick to perform at 2014 Clay County Fair
The Clay County Fair is excited to announce an evening of rock featuring Cheap Trick with special guest Here Come The Mummies presented by Q102 Okoboji’s Best Rock in the U.S. Cellular Grandstand for the 2014 Clay County Fair on Saturday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m.
“It is an honor to bring these two groups to Spencer for their first ever performances at the Clay County Fair,” said CCF Manager Jeremy Parsons. “This is going to be a fun night of rock and roll.”
Cheap Trick may be one of the most covered bands of all time. Since the 1970s, they have been blending elements of pop, punk and even metal in a way that is instantly catchy and recognizable. With more than 5,000 performances, 20 million records sold, 29 movie soundtracks, 40 gold and platinum recording awards, and timeless classics such as “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender,” and “The Flame,” Cheap Trick is a musical institution. Anyone familiar with Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” will note that Cheap Trick wrote and performed the theme song.
Here Come the Mummies is an eight-piece funk-rock band of 5,000-year-old Egyptian mummies. Using their brand of “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave,” HCTM has opened for P-Funk and Al Green, rocked Super Bowl Village 2012, become regulars on “The Bob and Tom Show,” performed at massive festivals like Summerfest, and made themselves the darlings of sell-out crowds over wide swaths of North America.
